When I began yoga lessons I wanted to improve my physical posture and complement my meditation practice. With Beth's teaching as an invaluable guide, I have come to a much deeper and more fulfilling understanding of what yoga can do for me. Physically, I am stronger and much more flexible: my rounded shoulders have opened and the occasional lower back pain I used to suffer from has completely disappeared. Even more valuable now, though, is the feeling of grounding I get through yoga: every yoga practice is a chance to really feel and accept myself and my limits, and this insight naturally helps me in my daily life 'beyond the mat'.
During my yoga study, I have had the chance to attend lessons with different teachers and explore different yoga approaches. I really appreciate Beth's teaching and the Kripalu approach. Beth has taught me that yoga is not about always pushing myself to the limit, or following a strict sequence of postures, or trying to imitate a perfect model. Instead, yoga-and, I think, Kripalu in particular-is about exploring and really feeling how my body-mind works. I am really enjoying the journey, and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a greater sense of connection in their life.

As a small child I had treatment for flat feet, which consisted of wearing tortuous shoes to correct my fallen arches. Since then I have severe cramps in my left foot from time to time, possibly due to the treatment. Last year the pain was so bad that I couldn’t walk properly. Orthopaedic shoes didn’t solve the problem and I started to wonder if I would ever walk comfortably again.
In one session yoga completely solved the problem, Beth showed me exercises that activated the synovial fluid and stretched the muscles around the joints in my foot and the pain disappeared after 2 weeks.

I like yoga because it helps me to relax, I used to have headaches a lot but since I’ve been doing yoga I don’t get them anymore. Beth makes it very fun and it is funny because I do it with my mum, cousin and aunt.

The first thing that yoga gave me is an awareness of how important the spine is, for energy, health and flexibility. The second has been to observe my daughters sensitivity and how much time she needs to feel at peace. Franzi is open to many things and I see that yoga gives her inner strength; she sees her own talents and begins to appreciate herself. Practicing yoga as a family with Kelly and Megan puts our strengths in balance. For me yoga is related to meditation too, a kind of returning to the centre, cleaning the mind. I like the classes a lot, I would like to do yoga every day but alone I can’t motivate my self.

My daughter and I have been practicing yoga for over a year with Beth. We practice once a week with another mother-daughter pair. We all notice how the practice has helped us to improve our flexibility and ability to relax; sometimes, the girls even mention how it helps them do better in sport class at school. I have had weight issues and a not-so-positive concept of my body for years. I was a bit worried when we started off and were supposed to do a head stand. I just couldn’t imagine how that was going to work for me. After a few tries and then something like success, I was so amazed at what my body could do with Beth’s help and guidance.

I'm quite a rules-based person: I like to know there's a right and a wrong way to do things. I came to yoga wanting to know the "right" way to do it. Beth's classes have shown me there is no one way right way for everyone: She's given me courage to explore things for myself and find my own path in a totally safe way. It's really creative and eye-opening and I'm loving it.

Each class has been amazingly different in a wonderful way! I'm becoming aware of my body and of every little muscle, joint and bone. Beth is a professional teacher, very considerate and extremely tender. She is the perfect yoga teacher!!!

Each week, yoga is time for me. I can set aside the demands of daily life, take a deep breath, let it go, begin to calm my mind, and awaken my body. I usually work six days a week, and the hours are very unsociable. I am constantly thinking about time, planning, juggling, and generally hoping for enough energy to do everything. Beth has been my teacher for a few years now. Her approach is thoughtful, not routine and always evolving, to the point now where she has provided me with the means and desire to also practice on my own - something I never felt able to do since I began yoga 17 years ago.

I first met Beth whilst working at a pre-school. The classes were one and a half hours of bliss once a week. Which was time for letting go and releasing the tensions incurred from working with small kids, which is a job that is as fun as it is stressful.
We were beginners and Beth's approach enabled us to learn about our bodies at our own pace, by the end of the school year we were bending and stretching in ways we never thought possible!! Practicing yoga with colleagues at first deterred me, thinking it would be too much time spent together. Actually the experience was so beneficial for relationships at work. We found that whatever shape or size of person we were we had something to share. In turn this supported our communication skills and work rapport. Beth loves her practice and this really comes through in how she teaches, I would highly recommend nurturing your yoga, whatever level with her.
